2026 Charity Partner Program Kicks Off at Old Stone House

The Service League of Morgantown is kicking off the 19th year of its Charity Partner Program. Ten percent of the Old Stone House Gift Shop's gross sales during the week of September 7-13 will be donated to the Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center (RDVIC). Sarah's Table will be the recipient from September 14-20.

A unique retail space steeped in history and philanthropy, the Old Stone House is located at 313 Chestnut Street in downtown Morgantown. The gift shop is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and offers a wide variety of unique gift items, seasonal décor, Blenko glass, WV food products, WV souvenirs, handcrafted items, and used books.

The Service League's active membership selected fifteen organizations to partner with for the 2026 schedule. Each partner will receive ten percent of the shop's gross sales or a $400 minimum during their designated dates:

• Nov. 16-22: Mon County Child Advocacy Center
• Nov. 23-29: Community Kitchen at Trinity Episcopal Church
• Nov. 30-Dec. 6: CASA for Kids
• Dec. 7-13: Meals on Wheels Morgantown Area
• Dec. 14-20: Stepping Stones
• Dec. 21-31: Pantry Plus More

Since the Charity Partner Program began in 2008, the Service League has donated a grand total of $70,985 to worthy Monongalia County non-profits selected each fiscal year by its active membership. Last year, in 2025-2026, the league shared a collective total of $6,454 with Literacy Volunteers, Mon County Special Olympics, Stepping Stones, Wadestown Food Pantry, Mon County Child Advocacy Center, Scott's Run Settlement House, Meals on Wheels Morgantown Area, CASA for Kids, Lauren's Wish, Christian Help, Catholic Charities, Community Kitchen, St. Ursula Food Pantry and Outreach, RDVIC, and Pantry Plus More.

Since 1935, the Old Stone House has been owned and operated by the Service League of Morgantown. Giving back to the local community has been their mission for 91 years. The shop has no paid employees, and sales fund year-round community projects, food pantries, and scholarships.

The Service League has long supported local youth. The league annually sponsors two girls at West Virginia Rhododendron Girls State and two boys at The American Legion Mountaineer Boys State. This past summer, the league provided scholarships for students in financial need to attend 4-H Camp and gave a $450 donation for supplies for Children's Summer Programs at the West Virginia Botanic Garden. The league also provides a Mexican God's Eye yarn weaving station annually at the Stepping Stones' Art Festival.

Last fall, the league provided coats, boots, gloves, and books to 88 children in the Early Head Start (EHS) program, filled Christmas wishes for four EHS families, and provided grocery certificates for holiday dinners. Members also hosted Tea Parties and Bingo parties at Sundale Rehabilitation Center and fulfilled Presents for Patients Christmas wish lists for 40 residents. Additionally, the league hosted Circle of Friends dinners at Wesley UMC and packed food bags at the Community Kitchen.

The league funded rental costs for the annual Used Book Sale sponsored by Literacy Volunteers and Read Aloud WV of Mon County. To address ongoing food insecurity issues, $500 donations were given to St. Ursula's Food Pantry and Outreach, Wadestown Food Pantry, Scott's Run Settlement House, and The Pantry Plus More. A new freezer was also gifted to the Community Kitchen.

Founded in 1935, the Service League's mission is to give back to the local community to improve the lives of local citizens through charitable, educational, and cultural activities. In its 91 years of existence, the league has contributed over $495,163 to the Morgantown community, including over $26,000 to the Morgantown Public Library and approximately $88,864 towards books for Mon County School libraries. The Old Stone House was built around 1795 and is the oldest stone dwelling in the county. It is listed on the National Historic Registry.
