The WVU Committee of Retired Faculty and OLLI will host a virtual presentation by Carol Petitto, executive director and founder of On Eagles' Wings Therapeutic Horsemanship Center, on Wednesday, August 5, at 2:30 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public. The presentation will introduce On Eagles' Wings Therapeutic Horsemanship Center and explore how equine-assisted services are transforming lives across north-central West Virginia. Attendees will learn about the different programs offered—including therapeutic riding, hippotherapy, equine-assisted learning, substance use recovery services, and miniature horse outreach—and discover how horses help individuals develop physical, cognitive, emotional, and social skills. Through inspiring stories, research, and real-life examples, participants will gain a greater understanding of the unique bond between humans and horses and the evidence supporting equine-assisted interventions. The presentation will also highlight the role of volunteers, therapy horses, and community partnerships in making these life-changing programs possible. Whether you are simply curious about therapeutic horsemanship or interested in becoming a volunteer, donor, participant, or advocate, you will leave with a deeper appreciation for the impact horses can have on improving lives and strengthening communities.
