SUMMARY:What can horses teach us about healing\, confidence\, and human potential?
DESCRIPTION:The WVU Committee of Retired Faculty and OLLI will host a virtual presentation by Carol Petitto\, executive director and founder of On Eagles' Wings Therapeutic Horsemanship Center\, on Wednesday\, August 5\, at 2:30 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public. The presentation will introduce On Eagles' Wings Therapeutic Horsemanship Center and explore how equine-assisted services are transforming lives across north-central West Virginia. Attendees will learn about the different programs offered—including therapeutic riding\, hippotherapy\, equine-assisted learning\, substance use recovery services\, and miniature horse outreach—and discover how horses help individuals develop physical\, cognitive\, emotional\, and social skills. Through inspiring stories\, research\, and real-life examples\, participants will gain a greater understanding of the unique bond between humans and horses and the evidence supporting equine-assisted interventions. The presentation will also highlight the role of volunteers\, therapy horses\, and community partnerships in making these life-changing programs possible. Whether you are simply curious about therapeutic horsemanship or interested in becoming a volunteer\, donor\, participant\, or advocate\, you will leave with a deeper appreciation for the impact horses can have on improving lives and strengthening communities. Register at https://olliatwvu.wpcomstaging.com/archives/16002 to receive the Zoom link or contact the OLLI office at 304-293-1793.
